When it comes to oral health, the best cure is prevention. Regular visits to our office for cleanings and consultation can prevent tooth decay, gum disease and even common bad breath. In addition to removing plaque and tartar buildup, our staff can give your teeth a new luster, and help you create a home care routine that will help ensure years of good checkups and good smiles. Dental prophylaxis is the process of evaluating the mouth for potential problems such as tooth decay, gum disease and symptoms of detrimental habits such as tooth grinding.

Dentists have been filling teeth for well over a century, but drills and metal fillings have given way to precision dental lasers and mercury-free, tooth-colored composite filling materials that look better, last longer and are easier to fit. Before creating a filling, we will evaluate the tooth’s condition, position and chewing load and considers your comfort when formulating a restorative plan.

Though there are many over-the-counter products used to whiten teeth, the safest and most effective whitening treatments are done by a dentist, and Dr. Modi employs a number of proven whitening procedures that will remove stains and lighten teeth without damaging the enamel or gums.

Your smile is often the first thing others notice, and an attractive teeth can provide a sense of confidence and enhance your overall appearance. We can provide a full range of cosmetic dental options to correct crooked or missing teeth, brighten the overall appearance of your smile, and create an ideal bite that not only looks attractive but also enhances your overall oral health.

When a tooth is chipped, broken or severely decayed, a dental cap or crown can solve the problem. After preparing the remaining tooth, we fit a durable ceramic or composite cap or crown that looks like the original undamaged tooth, and is almost indistinguishable from your other teeth. This procedure usually takes two visits -one to shape the tooth and fit a temporary crown or cap, and the second to cement the permanent replacement, which can then last a lifetime.

When a tooth goes missing, a bridge can provide a simple and cost-effective replacement option. Unlike removable partials, a bridge is a permanent fixture that does not require special care, because it anchors the replacement tooth or teeth to nearby healthy teeth. Bridges can provide a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to dental implants, and with proper care, can last a decade or more without additional attention.

When tooth decay reaches a nerve, the pain can be severe, and if left untreated, can result in serious infection. In years past, extraction was often the only option. Endodontic treatment, also known as a root canal, can often save a deeply decayed tooth. The process is relatively simple, and can usually be completed in one to three visits. Using a dental laser, Dr. Eng will remove the decay and damaged nerve tissue, then perform appropriate restorative work to return the tooth to its original, healthy appearance. With proper oral hygiene, the restored tooth can last a lifetime.

Chipped, stained or uneven teeth can keep you from having a great smile smile. In many cases, dental bonding can provide an easy yet effective solution. This procedure uses a tooth-colored resin that is applied to the damaged or discolored area of the tooth. A special light hardens the resin to create a surface that is hard and durable, and is bonded to the original tooth. This process is painless and relativity quick, but can provide excellent results.

More extensive restorative work can be accomplished through the use of dental veneers. These are thin, custom-made porcelain shells that are permanently applied to the visible front portion of your teeth to provide a healthy, natural-looking smile without the need for major dental work. Veneers are durable and act like enamel, allowing light to pass through to the inside of your teeth, giving your teeth a natural and healthy appearance. In addition to enhancing your looks, they provide additional protection to the teeth and make them less vulnerable to plaque buildup.

Sometimes, a tooth cannot be saved. When extraction is required, we will formulate a plan that eliminates the pain and anxiety of the process, and provides the easiest possible recovery. In conjunction with the extraction process, we will discuss replacement options that can return your smile to its former appearance.

Loosing a tooth can be traumatic, but thanks to a relatively simple procedure known as an implant, we can create a permanent replacement that looks like the original, and could last a lifetime. Unlike a denture or bridge, an implant anchors the replacement tooth into the mouth’s bone foundation, and there is not special maintenance required beyond your existing brushing and oral hygiene routine. An implant procedure may have a higher initial cost than other replacement alternative, but the long-term benefits more than offset this difference.

When several or all teeth are beyond restoration, dentures can provide an attractive and cost-effective way to restore a persons appearance and their ability to chew food properly, which is important to digestive health. Partial dentures, sometimes know as a bridge, may be used to replace one or more teeth. A fixed or permanent bridge is anchored in place by securing the replacement teeth to adjacent teeth. Removable bridges place the replacement teeth on a sum-colored base that allows the teeth to fit comfortably in place, and be removed for cleaning.

If all teeth are to be removed for the fitting of full dentures, patients can choose to have dentures fitted immediately, but may have to return for adjustments as the gums and bones of the mouth change shape during the weeks following the extraction of teeth. By waiting to allow gums to jaw bones to heal and achieve their new shape, there is less need to adjust or reshape the dentures, but the waiting period may require eight to 12 weeks. If dentures are seen as a viable option to your dental health plan, Drs. Modi and Kundra will discuss these options in detail to create a treatment plan.
